Located in historic downtown Lawrence, The Dusty Bookshelf has a happy spot at 708 Mass. just down the street from local theater/music venue Liberty Hall and local brewery Free State, and across the street from the Eldridge Hotel (of Quantrill-fame). The store has been a beloved spot for cat and book lovers alike for over 20 years. We've loved our cats and have been lucky enough to have had four of them since opening in 1996- Cleo, Maxine, sweet Alice, and Dinah-Mite. The community of Lawrence has made the store into a space filled with many diverse titles and genres, so there is a book for every reader within these walls! Kids are invited to play and read in the childrens' room and loitering is encouraged, as the store is scattered with nooks to squeeze into and comfy chairs to lounge in. In addition to a beautiful collection of gently used books, we also offer scarce and collectible works, stickers, buttons, postcards, t-shirts, tote bags, vintage pulp, comics, and an old creaky typewriter to leave secret messages on.
